History of the Event

Geek Glams are a new name – as of 2025 – for a fun, creative event tradition that's gone on for over a decade, across ATX, NYC and beyond.

The events are effectively a DIY Met Gala for Nerds: almost always a pub crawl, we get together and pick a series of walkable locations and a costume theme, and everyone shows up as a different costume from that theme.

During our first years in New York City, our friends staged an annual spring bar crawl where we visited several bars in one afternoon, all dressed as different characters from a movie or television show. Why? Just because. And as odd as it may sound, it's insanely fun. You can tell from the photos: What started as 10-20 people for 30 Rock and Parks and Rec-themed crawls gained steam by the time we did Wet Hot American Summer, Kill Bill, Always Sunny and Broad City. Our NYC finale was themed Marvel Cinematic Universe, and you can see we basically saved the world.

In 2022, we made pocket monsters stylish/slutty/ameezing for Pokémon Ho.

In 2023, 107 mutants hit the street for X-Men City Limits.

In 2024, we made 120 Nintendo legends into a lewk as Super Smash Hoes.

Upcoming Geek Glam

Taking place on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, inspired by the shows and characters created originally for Cartoon Network – we're each going to pick a character and make it a lewk!
For anyone who wants to get technical about this: this will include all the characters created for Adult Swim, Adventure Time, Rick & Morty and more (with few exceptions). It won't include characters who were created elsewhere and then picked up for Cartoon Network syndication.) The Character Select page will contain all the details on what counts and what doesn't – but you can always use the Contact page with questions or to try to "order off-menu." With this many characters to select, this could be our biggest crawl yet – so do invite anyone who might be interested, by forwarding them this website. We ask that everyone who’s attending select a unique character/costume from the site before the event?
Good news is that the theme allows for complex costumes (if you wanna go big) or something really simple and cheap. The more creativity in the costumes, the better!
